Maggot (A Prototype Demo)

This is an initial prototype of Maggot, a dark-fantasy, deck-builder RPG. Play as Ilyich Larven, a disgraced merchant who sold his soul to an otherworldly demon. Wander an open-world map from a bird's-eye view, engaging in the turmoil of a fictionalised, magical reformation period. Choose your own adventure through challenging text-based roleplay and card-based combat.

Be aware that some features are unpolished. The purpose of this prototype is to evaluate all features of the game at their core, so expect that in followup iterations there will be sweeping changes and improvements to the core designs. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Tips for Playing:

• When travelling on the map, small icons may show up in the top left under the location title. These show nearby activities. Click on the location title or right click your mouse to open the activities menu and start activities.
• Hover over cards in combat to see popup information about those cards.
• If you cannot find a way to get "argentines," rob strangers on the paths at the edges of the map or hunt locusters in the woods and sell their organs to the Sheriff's Office in Whiteleaf.
• There are five quests available to complete but you can reject all of them and they may become inaccessible after this.
